After much consideration and consultation, the day for the "Pakistan Day and PAGB Elections" is scheduled for Friday April 25th.

We will celebrate the day with a well known Pakistani Artists Mumtaz Hussain.

Briefly, Mumtaz Hussain is born in Pakistan, studied at National College of Arts, Lahore, at Media Art Center London, and School of Visual Art, New York. He now lives in New York and is well known for his hieroglyphs and ancient sculpture in his "The Soul of Civilization", his calligraphic "Modern Mystic".

Mumtaz Hussain is a painter and film maker. His movie, "Soul of Civilization" was made for Metropolitan Museum of art. Mumtaz recently completed four additional films:

•1. "This is my Pakistan" for Pakistani TV Channel GEO

•2. "Inside You" based on Rumi poetry

•3. Push Button based on Pakistani writer Ghulam Abbas story "Overcoat"

He recently released a film called "Butterfly Screams" that has received very good reviews in London and Lincoln Center New York, the film was recently screened in Sound View Studios in New York.

His art and films have been shown at Museums, Universities, Art galleries and many international film Festivals.

Mumtaz Hussain is now directing a movie in partnership with Hollywood stars intended for commercial release.

This will be a unique opportunity to meet with Mumtaz and view his film "Butterfly Screams"; An animated film portraying the life of Pakistanies after 9/11.

The program detail are:

  1. 7PM to 8PM; Community Arrival and Socializing
  2. 8PM to 8:30PM; PAGB Elections
  3. 8:30PM to 9:30PM; A Sumptuous Dinner
  4. 9:30PM to 10:30PM; Introduction to Mumtaz Hussain and Screening of Film "Butterfly Screams"
  5. 10:30 to 11:30; Community Announcements / Event and Conclusion

This is a unique event for all of us to socialize in a very "artistic environment" and learn and enjoy the event.

We will stop registration once 150 people are registered, tickets are available on first come first serve basis only.

PAGB members pay only $15 for this event per member, non members $35. If you are an OPEN (http://www.open-us.org/) or APPNE (http://www.appne.org/) member you get over 10% discount, so paying $30 only. Children under 5 come for free, all youth over 5 years $10.
